Casa Esperanza’s mission is to help men, women and families overcome homelessness, recover from alcoholism and drug addiction, gain the skills they need to be self-sufficient, contributing members of society and to repair and strengthen families torn apart by substance abuse. Supportive Housing at Casa Esperanza provides a safe and sober living environment that promotes continuing recovery and the development of independent living skills for residents. Casa Esperanza operates Nueva Vida, a15 resident supportive housing facility for Latino men in recovery Dunmore Place, 6 modern units, designed specifically for women and their children, and two new family units for women and children on Eustis Street. Additionally, we are now in the planning stages of building Nueva Esperanza, 14 new units for single women, which we expect to open in 2009. Like the Residential Programs, the Supportive Housing Program is based on an integration of the12-Step philosophy of recovery and evidence-based practices. The goal of Supportive Housing is to help residents become self-sufficient through employment and return to family and community life.
